IF SOMEONE IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION, DIAL 9-1-1 FOR ASSISTANCE!

Our statistics reflect only when a caller has told the 9-1-1 Dispatcher specifically that the chief complaint was the result of an “overdose”.
We do not know if the initial report to 9-1-1 was really an overdose when the caller indicated some other type of complaint. The factor is only known when the patient is seen in the emergency room and a diagnosis is made. We do not take into consideration if the substance used was illegal or not, or if the overdose was accidental or intentional.
If you or a loved one has a substance abuse problem and needs treatment, please call the Hotline at 1-800-662-HELP or visit https://www.pa.gov/guides/opioid-epidemic/ for more information.
