As the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19/Coronavirus continue, the Monroe County Control Center would like to reassure the public that our 911 dispatchers and staff remain dedicated to our mission of providing the residents and visitors of Monroe County with the highest level of customer service.
As far as our procedures, not that much has changed. As usual, if you have an emergency dial 9-1-1. And, if you have a non-emergency situation that may or may not require a police/fire/EMS response, dial our non-emergency line at 570-992-9911. We will dispatch the appropriate agencies to assist you.
In an effort to keep our employees healthy and able to fulfill their responsibilities to the public, our 911 center will remain closed to the general public. Additionally, 911 educational public appearances will be suspended until further notice.
As for our 911 operations, our 911 dispatchers are socially distancing themselves within the confines of the communications center. Large plastic dividers have been installed between adjoining computer consoles, temperatures are being taken and we are continuously wiping down surfaces and following “stop the spread” protocol.
We will keep you posted. In the meantime, mask-up, stay safe, stay healthy, and please look out for one another.
